Welcome to farefolk. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the farefolk platform, website, and mobile experience (collectively, the “Service”), operated by farefolk, a sole proprietor based in Singapore (“farefolk”, “we”, “us”, or “our”).
By creating an account or using the Service you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Kaki: the group creator who organises and collects a food run at a hawker stall.
Member: any user who joins a Kaki’s group to place an order.
Group: a single food run: one Kaki, one stall, one or more Members.
Stall: a food vendor within a hawker centre listed on the Service.
Steady Kaki: a trust designation awarded to highly-rated Kakis based on completed runs and peer ratings.
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are under 18 years old, you must have the consent of a parent or legal guardian who agrees to these Terms on your behalf and accepts responsibility for your use of the Service.
By creating an account, you represent that (a) you meet the age requirement above; (b) you have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement; and (c) you will maintain only one account.
If you are agreeing on behalf of a minor in your care, you accept personal responsibility for all activity on that account.
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at hello@farefolk.app if you suspect unauthorised access.
If you use Google Sign-In, your account is also subject to Google’s terms of service. You are responsible for keeping your Google account secure.
The information you provide must be accurate, current, and complete. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that contain false, misleading, or outdated information.
farefolk is a coordination platform that facilitates group food orders at Singapore hawker stalls. We are not a food seller, food preparer, or food delivery operator. The food and beverage transaction is between you and the hawker stall directly; farefolk merely provides the tools to organise, pay for, and track the group order.
Kakis are independent users who voluntarily organise runs. farefolk does not employ Kakis and is not responsible for their conduct beyond what is set out in these Terms.
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service or any feature at any time, with reasonable notice where practicable.
farefolk charges a 10% platform fee on the food subtotal and a tiered delivery fee that decreases as more Members join a Group (currently S$0.99–S$1.99 per Member depending on Group size). Current rates are shown at checkout before you confirm payment.
All prices are in Singapore Dollars (SGD). Payment is processed via PayNow only, through our payment partner Stripe Singapore Pte. Ltd. By confirming a payment you authorise farefolk to charge the total amount shown through PayNow.
You will receive an email confirmation for each successful payment. farefolk does not store card numbers or PayNow proxy credentials; these are handled solely by Stripe.
Once a Kaki has placed the order at the stall and items are in preparation, payments are non-refundable.
All other refund requests are handled on a case-by-case basis. Where a refund is approved, it will be returned to your original PayNow source, typically within 5–10 business days.
You may upload photos, post chat messages, and submit ratings (“User Content”). You retain ownership of your User Content, but by submitting it you grant farefolk a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive, sublicensable licence to host, store, display, reproduce, and distribute that content solely to operate and improve the Service.
You warrant that you have all necessary rights to the content you upload and that it does not infringe any third-party rights or violate any law.
We reserve the right to remove any User Content that violates these Terms or that we determine, in our sole discretion, to be harmful, offensive, or otherwise objectionable.
You agree not to:
Kakis additionally agree to honour their commitment to collect and distribute orders for every Group they open. Repeated failure to fulfil runs may result in suspension.
The ratings system and Steady Kaki designation are based on peer feedback and completed run metrics. farefolk reserves the right to adjust, revoke, or recalculate ratings and designations at any time, including in response to abuse or manipulation of the system.
Ratings represent user opinions and are not verified by farefolk. We are not liable for decisions made on the basis of ratings.
The farefolk name, logo, design, software, and content (excluding User Content) are owned by or licensed to farefolk and are protected by Singapore and international intellectual property laws. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to access and use the Service for personal, non-commercial purposes only.
You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, create derivative works of, or commercialise any part of the Service without our prior written consent.
The Service integrates third-party providers including Supabase, Stripe, Resend, Vercel, Upstash, and Google. Your use of features powered by these providers is also subject to their respective terms of service and privacy policies. farefolk is not responsible for the acts, omissions, or content of any third-party provider.
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY SINGAPORE LAW.
farefolk does not represent or warrant that: (a) the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure; (b) any food ordered through the Service will meet your expectations for quality, safety, or suitability; or (c) any information on the Service is accurate or complete.
Food safety and allergen information are the sole responsibility of the relevant hawker stall. If you have dietary restrictions, allergies, or medical conditions, you must verify suitability directly with the stall. farefolk is not liable for any illness, injury, or loss arising from food consumed through the Service.
To the maximum extent permitted by Singapore law (including the Unfair Contract Terms Act (Cap. 396)), farefolk’s total aggregate liability to you for all claims arising from or relating to these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the greater of: (a) the total fees you paid to farefolk in the six months preceding the claim; or (b) S$100.
farefolk shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, goodwill, or business opportunity, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits farefolk’s liability for: death or personal injury caused by our negligence; fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; or any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under Singapore law.
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless farefolk and its affiliates, officers, agents, and partners from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in any way connected with: (a) your access to or use of the Service; (b) your breach of these Terms; (c) your User Content; or (d) your violation of any law or the rights of a third party.
farefolk may suspend or terminate your account at any time if we believe you have violated these Terms, engaged in fraudulent or abusive behaviour, or for any other reason that in our judgment protects the platform or its users. We will endeavour to provide notice where practicable.
You may close your account at any time by contacting hello@farefolk.app. Account closure does not affect any payment obligations that have already arisen.
Provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (including Sections 10, 12, 13, 14, 16, and 17) will continue to apply after termination.
We may update these Terms from time to time. For material changes, we will notify you by email or via an in-app notice at least 7 days before the change takes effect. Your continued use of the Service after the new effective date constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you must stop using the Service and may close your account.
These Terms and any dispute arising from them are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Singapore, without regard to conflict of law principles.
Any dispute, controversy, or claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Singapore. You and farefolk both consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.
For any questions about these Terms, please contact us at hello@farefolk.app.
